The work is a documentation of the process of building a lightbox that replaces / represents the studio situation. The title of the work refers to phototherapy as an alternative treatment for various sleep disorders and seasonal depressions introduced to medical science by Danish Nobel laureate physician, Niels Ryberg Finsen. The altering effect of light on photosensitive surfaces of the human body and eye and the camera-based image making practice are intertwined in the work. The Intimate examination of the internals of an art object associated with phototherapy suggests that there is a therapeutic potential in the processes of art production and artistic self-contemplation.
